Yes: Go mine on Lyria, and don't waste your time in Aaron Halo/others. Lyria has bigger and better rocks. All rocks are scannable there. Search for cluster/chunk of rocks there, a cluster will always be Quantanium rocks. It’s bugged occasionally. Escaping is fun but you also need a friend to bail you out since you don’t get a ship at the end (for now at least). I've tried multiple button/key rebinds - Scan mode always works, Radar never pings. There is an option in the general settings that restricts ping to scan mode only. Make sure it is not set to 'yes'. If you do bind the Ping and Scan together, you can then adjust the Ping Angle.
